Diagnosing and Balancing Approaches of Bowed Rotating Systems: A Review

Driven/driving shafts are the most important portion of rotating devices. Misdiagnosis or late diagnosis these components could result in severe vibrations, defects other parts (particularly bearings), and ultimately catastrophic failures. A shaft bow is a common problem heavy systems equipped with such attachments as blades, discs, etc. Many factors can cause bending; this malfunction be temporary, resulting from rotor gravitational sag, permanent, shrink fitting. Since bending effects similar to those induced by classic eccentricity mass geometric center, i.e., unbalancing, distinguishing differences dynamic behaviors, well symptoms, labor-intensive specialized task. This article represents review almost all investigations studies that have been carried out on diagnosing balancing bowed systems. The articles categorized into two major classes, balancing/correcting approaches rotors. former divided three subclasses, time-domain, frequency-domain, time–frequency-domain analyses; latter sub-sections concern influence coefficient, modal balancing, optimization method correcting. number time domain relatively high, category subdivided groups: manual smart inspection. Finally, summary provided, some new research prospects.
